Hey guys!
I have a super exciting announcement: I’ve officially been blogging for ONE YEAR!!
I can’t believe it’s been this long, and I’m really proud of myself for committing to this (even though I’ve been bad about posting lately).
I am so happy that I started my blog, and so thankful to all the wonderful people who welcomed me into this community. Thank you to all of my blog followers, bloggers who I follow, authors who inspire me, bookstagrammers, and everyone on book twitter for the endless amount of support and random gifs. I wouldn’t have stuck with blogging if it weren’t for you guys.
This year of blogging has also helped me discover my true passion in life–writing. Although writing has always been something I loved, I’ve never been so dedicated to writing and finishing my book until now. Writing is something that defines me, and if I didn’t start this blog I don’t think I would’ve ever learned that.
My first ever post was published on December 2nd, 2015. It was an introduction to me and my blog, and I didn’t really know what to say. A few months ago I edited it and revised it, but I still have plenty of other early posts to look back on. I’m not kidding you when I said I had no idea what I was doing; just read this excerpt from my second post about addicting book series:
- Firebird series by Claudia Grey
I’m currently reading the second book in the Firebird saga, Ten Thousand Skies Above You. First off, this series has the prettiest book covers I’ve ever seen. Honestly, this book is prettier than me. Second, the story is amazing. It’s something I’ve never seen in YA lit. It follows a girl jumping through alternate dimensions and universes, trying to track down an organization who has stolen the device used for au-jumping and
Yes, I stopped writing this mid-sentence. No, I don’t know why I never finished the sentence or why I didn’t catch this before posting it. Feel free to read the rest of the post if you want to cringe some more.
I’ve learned so much about blogging in this year, and I really hope my posts have improved. I know my book photography has. I mean, what was that filter I used to use?!
2015 | 2016
My best advice for aspiring bloggers and new bloggers is to 1.) stick with it! Post a couple of times a week and don’t worry about only getting one or two likes on posts. My first month of blogging I got a total of 4 likes. It’s really important to focus on the fact that you love what you’re doing rather than what others think of it. 2.) is to talk to people! Seriously, communication with other bloggers is the only real way to grow your blog. Book twitter is the best place, in my opinion, even though it was a little intimidating to respond to tweets at first. Commenting on other blog posts and being an active part of the book community is another great way to meet new blogging friends.
Lastly, as a thank you to everyone and to celebrate 1 year of blogging, I’m going to be giving away a couple of books (one signed!) soon and a bunch of swag. Stay tuned for the giveaway!
I hope all of you have a fantastic day, thanks for reading!
xo,
Sophie

Thank you!!! And yeah, I used to be so scared to reply to people’s tweets but I’ve learned not to, everyone in the book community is so nice.

I just HAD to pop in here and say HAPPY BLOGGIVERSARY!!! Sticking with blogging for an entire year is hard. Congrats on improving your photography techniques. It doesn’t seem to be in my DNA to do such a thing, but I certainly admire it. 🙂 By the way, how did you like Wolf by Wolf? I’m thinking about reading it soon.
