Book Writing #2

Hey guys!

I think the stress of trying to balance writing a book and my schoolwork is finally getting to me. This week I’ve only written a total of 2,498 words, which is a total drop from last week’s 4,428. I had a big history test this week that I had to spend a lot of time studying for, and I ended up getting a 82 so the studying was definitely worth it.

Anyways, because of this I had to add an extra 2 weeks on to my writing planner because my daily word count had gone passed 1,000 words a day, and I couldn’t handle that. So now my set finish date is November 26th, 2016, about two months from now.

Now on to the more exciting news: I hit 25,000 words (aka 1/3 of my overall word goal of 75,000 words)!! This is a huge milestone for me, and I’m also going to be hitting 100 pages in the next week, so another milestone! Wooo!

A big problem I’m having with my book right now is plotting. It’s time to confession: I do not have an outline for this book. I have a clear beginning and end, but the middle is sort of foggy. If anyone has any tips for writing an outline, please let me know in the comments! I’ve attempted to outline this book so many times, but I’m never able to.

Lastly, a big shout-out to Jenna Moreci on Youtube. If you don’t know who she is, she’s a YA writer who basically posts writing lessons on Youtube that are SO HELPFUL. Seriously, they’ve helped me so much with my writing and I’ve learned so many useful tricks and tips. If you like to write, her videos are for you.

So that’s all for this writing update! I hope you guys enjoyed reading πŸ™‚

Are any of you writers? If so, are you currently working on a book? Let me know in the comments!

xx,

Sophie

  1. It’s really difficult writing a book and keeping up with school work. Last holidays (May, I think.) I started writing a book. I still am, but I haven’t written anything since July. I had only just passed the 10,000 word mark and stopped. I am planning to continue it as soon as I get home from my travelling. Writing a book really does have its ups and downs!

  2. Writing is like a roller coaster with its up’s and down’s. It is a crazy ride, but you know you want to stay on. πŸ˜€ Anyway, I am actually writing a novel right now about British people and cyborgs in the modern world. I have actually fallen in love with it! I think that it is my favorite project that I have done. Good luck on your novel! I know that it is going to be amazing!
