Hey guys!
Today I’m participating in the blog tour for Sandy Hall’s upcoming release Been Here All Along. This book sounds so cute, and I’m so excited that I got to interview Sandy! There is also a giveaway that YOU can enter to win a copy of this book!

Gideon always has a plan. His plans include running for class president, becoming head of the yearbook committee, and having his choice of colleges. They do NOT include falling head over heels for his best friend and next door neighbor, Kyle. It’s a distraction. It’s pointless, as Kyle is already dating the gorgeous and popular head cheerleader, Ruby. And Gideon doesn’t know what to do.
Kyle finally feels like he has a handle on life. He has a wonderful girlfriend, a best friend willing to debate the finer points of Lord of the Rings, and social acceptance as captain of the basketball team. Then, both Ruby and Gideon start acting really weird, just as his spot on the team is threatened, and Kyle can’t quite figure out what he did wrong…
Interview
1. What are three adjectives to describe the main character of Been Here All Along?
There are two main characters in Been Here All Along so I’ll describe Kyle. He is
loyal, hardworking, and happy. Which makes him sound like a Saint Bernard but these
are really the best way to describe him!
2. What keeps you motivated when you have writer’s block?
Candy! I’m a bit believer in small bribes, so I tell myself I can have a Skittle or
M&M or whatever for every 50 words I write. By the time I get going, I end up forgetting
to even keep track of my word count and soon enough I’m making real progress and
eating handfuls of candy.
3. What is the most important piece of advice you have for aspiring writers?
Learn to finish your drafts! It’s so hard when you feel like things aren’t going the
way you want them too, but by finishing what you started you can go back and fix it
once you have the full picture in place.
4. Who designed Been Here All Along‘s super cute cover?
Ashley Halsey one of the many super awesome designers at Macmillan.
5. Where is your favorite place to write?
These days there’s a particular library near where I live that wins out every time.
It’s just got a good feel and it’s easy to just get lost in my work.
6. How much do you plan before starting your first drafts?
A LOT. Like tons of planning. For my first book, A Little Something Different, I
used index cards, one for each scene, and the stack of cards is literally thicker than the
finished book. I tend to spend at least a month working on a new idea before ever
starting to write.
7. What scene are you most proud of writing and why?
I really love the scene where Gideon’s brother Ezra comes home in the middle of
the night unexpectedly. There’s something about writing family dynamics that I just
really enjoy and I’m very happy with how that scene turned out in particular.
8. Are you working on a new project now? If so, can you give us a hint about what it will
about?
I am! But as of the typing up of this interview it hasn’t officially been announced
yet. Definitely keep an eye on the Swoon Reads site! (Or maybe with lag time it’s
already on there…)
Thank you so much for talking with me, Sandy!
I’m a teen librarian from New Jersey where I was born and raised. I have a BA in Communication and a Master of Library and Information Science from Rutgers University. When I’m not writing, or teen librarian-ing, I enjoy reading, slot machines, marathoning TV shows, and long scrolls through Tumblr. A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT is my first novel.
Thanks for being on the tour! 🙂
