So today I’m going to do something a little different. I love books and I love music, so why not put them together? Basically, here are some of my favorite books and songs I think fit them.
1.Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson = Don’t Save Me by HAIM
This book deserves something super upbeat and summer-y, so I think Don’t Save Me by HAIM is perfect. The meaning of the song has nothing to do with the book, but the beat works so well for it.
Book Quote: “This felt like the way you get nervous right before something exciting happens-the moment when you’re balanced on the top of the roller coaster, the hush before the surprise party, the second after the diving board but before the water, when you can close your eyes and imagine, for just a second, that you’re flying. The feeling that good things were coming, almost here, any moment now.”
Song Quote: “All my life I wasn’t trying to get on a highway
I was wondering which way to go
Spending all of my damn time
Leaving all the weight behind you”
Look! Even the covers match! They all have sunglasses and everything.
2. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins = Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen
This book is perfect for Carly Rae Jepsen’s Run Away With Me because the romance between Anna and St. Clair is just the cutest. Plus, the Parisian setting can match the song because
Book Quote: “For the two of us, home isn’t a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.”
Song Quote: “This is the part, you’ve got to say all that you’re feeling, feeling
Packing a bag, we’re leaving tonight when everyone’s sleeping, sleeping
Let’s run away
I’ll run away with you”
3. The Selection by Kiera Cass = One by Ed Sheeran
I listened to a Selection playlist last year and this song was on it and it fits the book so well. Pretty much any Ed Sheeran song could, but this one just makes my heart melt, like Maxon and America do!
Book Quote: “I hope you find someone you can’t live without.I really do. And I hope you never have to know what it’s like to have to try and live without them.”
Song Quote: “And would you take away my hopes and dreams and just stay with me?”
4. The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas = Heathens by twenty one pilots
This is a new song by twenty one pilots that came out, so naturally I had to include it in this. Both The Darkest Corners and Heathens are dark and creepy, making them perfect matches.
Book Quote: “There are worse things in this world than monsters, and somehow, they always manage to find me.”
Song Quote: “You have trust issues, not to mention
They say they can smell your intentions”
5. Delirium by Lauren Oliver = Treacherous by Taylor Swift
Treacherous is a song about falling for someone, but knowing you shouldn’t. Alex and Lena’s relationship in Delirium is exactly the same: they know it’s dangerous, but they can’t help it. It’s also in my top five Taylor songs, and Delirium is one of my favorite books, so ya know…
Book Quote: “I guess that’s just part of loving people: You have to give things up. Sometimes you even have to give them up.”
Song Quote: “And I just think you should, think you should know
That nothing safe is worth the drive and I will
Follow you, follow you home”
